I am happy and proud to present the launch of a new, and in my opinion, very exciting record label, DARK ARX. The label is named after its founder and producer/muso DARK ARX who I have known for a very long time. The first release is by a brand new artist called Binary Sequence. His story is very interesting as, if my information is correct, he is classically trained and had never attempted to make any form of electronic before he started making this e.p. Let me tell you, this is a damn fine first attempt, electronic music at its finest, fo sho!

This is amazing, I have just discovered it, so I don’t have too much to say about it yet but I needed to share this with everyone. It is online beatmaker, studio/audiotool and is really fun. A friend of mine sent me a link to his new blog last and I have to spread the love. This guy is a talented mofo. He is a young photographer by the name of Errol Rainey, but his age hasn’t held him back in terms of gaining the right experience and allowing his talent to grow. Some would say he has been lucky (actually that’s just me) but in truth this guy has worked his ass off and at 22/23 has already worked alongside the likes of Testino and Bailey. I have kissed his ass enough so check out his new experiment which involves taking and editing photos on a mobile phone camera and posting them straight to web without ever touching a computer. DESCRIPTION—“Maths Dreamed Universe” is a quantitative visualisation of the manner within which elemental forms in nature order themselves. The graph was created using generative Python code and maps numbers 0 to 100,001 arranged in a logarithmic spiral. The form of the spiral is determined by the Golden Angle subtension of a circle that distributes numbers from the centre (0) to the outer edge (100,001). The pattern that results is frequently found in nature, as in floral organs, and has been documented since Archimede’s time. The spiral reveals the visual relationships of elemental numbers and the aesthetic beauty of mathematical equations.
The project reflects the contemporary interest in the intersection of science and art – in particular the use of scientific methods to inform art practice. The primary motivation for creating the poster was to visualize the crossover of pure math with graphic aestheticism. The appreciation of what may be termed ‘purely aesthetic forms’ has a long tradition in art and design, but ornamentation is often derided as being little more than a fancy. But what if aesthetic appreciation was functional? What if beauty communicates and is thus open to analytical investigation? “Maths Dreamed Universe” is the first in a series of projects that examines meaning in aesthetics.

I was at work today and a friend was scanning the web looking at the latest design bits and bobs on blogs and stuff. He sent over something to look at, a random Viral for a Japanese genetic enhancement company called Nippon Shin Eisei (Japan New Health) features an eerie Flash-based introduction to the Junsui Project, which profiles a genetically-altered individual named Junko (who’s at the center of what looks like an alternate reality game or viral marketing campaign).
The site (which can be viewed only once before an “error message” is displayed) tells a story through the medium of a really spooky piece of video. The Nippon Shin Eisei website claims to offer customers access to revolutionary new gene enhancement technology that can ensure the best possible future for their unborn children. Most of the site appears to be password-protected, but if you send an email requesting one of their test kits, you will get the following response:

Once the viral throws up an error message the viral appears to be over. If you run your cursor over the code, ‘the enemy’ will become highlighted, which is a link to a fake Google page. In the search bar of the Google page type, ‘Alfa Tsentr’ and the viral will continue. Here is a YouTube clip that shows you what to do:
The question is, what is this for? I think a movie, it looks bloody cool if it is. It reminds me of Neuromancer (you need to read this book), a modern 1984. So check it out but remember that you can only view the viral once. It’s worth it…
